    Many diseases which are sight threatening detected early can be treated to avoid loss of vision. The most important step in preventing the loss of sight is by periodical checkup of eyes by a specialist.

    Diabetic patients are always at high risk for several eye diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataract. Patients of such category should have eye examination as perthe advice of doctor. A regular check up is needed after 40 years of age especially with family history of glaucoma.
