    Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital: In a groundbreaking move aimed at providing accessible healthcare to the most vulnerable populations, Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital (SMC&H), under the auspices of the Swadhin Trust,

    has announced a comprehensive free treatment initiative for needy and impoverished individuals from across India and the world. This extraordinary program, spearheaded by Dr. Malay Pit, President of SMC&H, will offer a wide array of medical services, including diagnostics and tests, entirely free of charge until March 20th, 2025.

    New Beginnings: Santiniketan Medical College Celebrates White Coat and Oath-Taking Ceremony for MBBS Batch of 2024-25

    Santiniketan Medical College celebrated a momentous occasion today as it hosted the White Coat and Oath-Taking Ceremony (Maharshi Charak Shapath) for the MBBS batch of 2024-25. This significant event marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the newly admitted medical students, symbolizing their formal entry into the noble field of medicine.

    The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Principal of the college, Prof. Dr. Gautam Narayan Sarkar, former Director of Medical Education (DME) of the state government, Prof. Dr. Sushanta Banerjee, the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) of Birbhum, Dr. Himadri Sarkar and famous Gynaecologist Prof. Dr. Arup Kumar Maji. Departmental heads, faculty members, and proud parents also attended the event, adding to its grandeur and solemnity. The Dean, Dr. Ayan Goswami, conducted the program, reflecting the college\'s commitment to nurturing a new generation of dedicated medical professionals.
    Before the event began, donning the white coat, was a tradition that signifies the students’ commitment to the ethical and professional responsibilities of the medical profession. Following this, the students took the Maharshi Charak Shapath, pledging to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity with empathy, integrity and diligence.


    Addressing the gathering, the college\'s principal Prof. Dr. Gautam Narayan Sarkar remarked, “This ceremony is not just a ritual but a reminder of the profound responsibilities that lie ahead. The white coat is a symbol of trust, and the oath signifies a lifelong dedication to the well-being of patients.”
    Ex-director of Medical Education (DME) of the state government, Prof. Dr. Sushanta Banerjee recalls the responsibility of medical practitioners to the society and challenges that doctors face.

    “Medicine is not just a profession; it is a calling to serve humanity. The journey you begin today will make a difference in countless lives,” said Dr. Himadri Sarkar, CMOH Birbhum.

    Prof. Dr. Arup Kumar Maji said that the medical profession is not only a noble profession but also a lifelong process of learning new things.
    In their speech, everybody praised renowned faculty members, infrastructures, environment, and overall aspects of Santiniketan Medical College.
     The White Coat and Oath-Taking Ceremony at Santiniketan Medical College was a resounding success, leaving students and parents with a sense of pride and hope for the future. As the students embark on their medical journey, this day will serve as a milestone, inspiring them to uphold the values of the medical profession with sincerity and compassion.
