    LIBRARY FACILITY

    The Central Library is located in the 3rd floor of the institution. It has a floor area of 1325 Sq.mts. Floor are internet connected. The Library is well illuminated and Air- conditioned. It provides a good ambience and free from noise.

    The library Circulation counter cum Reception area is at the entrance of the library. Electronic devices are used in this counter for handling books taken from the library or received.

    The Central Library works from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm on all working days. Library is closed on National holidays such as Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti and also Pongal and Deepawali.

    The Library has Text and Reference Books as well as journals. All the Library facilities and services are supported by qualified and efficient staff members who provide information services to the users. The library provides Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility for easy search for the faculty and students. An OPAC has been created and 5 terminals are provided for easy access. It is also made available to the end users with in campus. All library operational services have been automated using windows based technology.


    SOFT WARE USED

    Programmers of BLA Group have developed an in-house software (kOHA), which operates on windows 2000 server Oracle with J2EE. The software has operational modules for transaction, query, administration, reporting, search etc.

    BROWSING CENTRE


    Browsing centre is Air –conditioned and has 40 terminals.
    Internet : The library has internet facilities for faculty, students and research scholars. The library is well connected by internet to other departments. With this facilities faculty members can search the availability of books and communicate with librarian. .

    ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES


    The library status conducts educational programmes for themselves once in two months to update their professional talents and services.

    LIBRARIAN’S DAY


    ”This has reference to August 12th which being celebrated as National Librarian’s Day in India, in remembrance of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), who was eminent figure in Library science and Spearhead library movement in India.

    ”It was a Librarian’s Day celebration in our college Central Library on August 12th. This function inaugurated by our Dean , Principal, Vice Principal and special invites etc. We are arranged games and quiz competition and given prize distribution to Dean, Principal, Special invites and staff of the central library.

    BOOK EXIBITION


    ” We are organized Book Exhibition every years . All the departments faculty members selected the books for Department Library and Central Library. The various Publishers and Book Distributors participated this Book Exhibition. This Exhibition was inaugurated by our Dean, Principal, Vice Principal and special guest invited .

    UTILIZATION:


    Students of the other colleges and Research scholars can use the library facility on prior permission from the Dean/Principal of the medical college.
